Could The Unusual Suspects be our biggest comedy yet?

Friday's industry reading of The Unusual Suspects couldn't have gone much better.

We assembled a dream cast including Pearce Quigley, Tim Wallers, Sophie Russell, Paul Hunter and Shenagh Govan, and from the opening minutes the room just had that lovely warm feeling of "this is funny!" Better still, the laughs just kept building. By the final act, the audience was roaring - and is the case with writers, Mark and I were much relieved!

After three major rewrites, it feels as though we have cracked it. What began life as Octopus Soup! has evolved into a fast-paced contemporary farce that delivers exactly what we hoped it would: big laughs, memorable characters and an ending that leaves audiences on a laughter high.

It's still early days, but we're genuinely excited. With interest from regional theatres, conversations continuing with producers, and a film and trailer on the way, this feels like the beginning of a very exciting next chapter.

Who knows? We might just have a monster on our hands...
