Octopus scores in Soho

Jack's latest comedy, Octopus Soup, is his his second play co-authored with the ludicrously talented polymath, Mark Stevenson  http://www.anoptimiststourofthefuture.com. Mark and Jack wrote the script over one frenetic week in Wendover (in which film did a teacher say, "bend over, Wendover?") in December. They sent the first draft to producer Kevin Dunn, who loved it and recommended it to Fairfields Croydon. They too thought it suitably hilarious and so added it to their new writing, Freshly Fired Season.  Mark and Jack got great feedback. With other producers interested, and again with Kevin's help, they put on another reading at the Soho Theatre. The result is that two regional theatres and three other producers are keen in putting the show on. The aim is to put the show on in the autumn of 2013.

Octopus Soup by Jack Milner and Mark Stevenson

First add one underwriter and ‘blue-sky insurance consultant.' Suggest you find the safest man in England, the sort of man who wears a belt and braces (and another pair of braces). Then ensure he is burgled, bound and beaten – all while taking a conference call. As the burglary progresses blend in an uneasy alliance between the underwriter and the burglar…

Wait three days and assume it's all going swimmingly. Now heat rapidly as you combine an octopus called Terry, one highly strung actress wife of the underwriter, the twin arrival of the burglar's criminal underworld boss and  the CEO of the world’s largest insurance company…  end result should be a delicious, bonkers, fruity comedy that will hopefully be gratefully consumed by millions.
